Auxia Design helps stakeholders mitigate the impact that unwanted structural vibration can have on building occupants and sensitive building applications, like medical imaging, research facilities, vivaria, and specialty manufacturing processes.

Problematic vibration can arise from land uses and infrastructure outside of a facility or from activities and equipment inside the building. Sensitive applications can be disrupted by the normal day-to-day activities of building occupants. Additionally, occupants themselves can be impacted by vibration from fitness facilities and parking garages.

Addressing these issues requires a thorough assessment of technical criteria for vibration sensitive equipment and applications, plus a detailed understanding of each vibration source impacting a site. This process often involves comprehensive onsite measurements of existing conditions and close coordination with the project’s structural engineer. The process may highlight the need for equipment isolation, targeted structural stiffening, or in extreme cases structural isolation.
